In addition to the tamper, the appropriate portafilter is probably the barista's most important tool. It contains freshly ground coffee or espresso powder so that the maximum flavor and aroma can be extracted during the following extraction. To ensure this, another tool such as an espresso distributor (a so-called WDT tool) and leveler can be used after filling with coffee.

Then press everything down evenly with the tamper, insert the portafilter into the machine - and nothing stands in the way of wonderful coffee enjoyment.
